Download an Evaluation Copy of PDT-Windows

Below are two links you may click to download an evaluation (or "lite") version of PDT-Windows.  We'd first, however, like to explain the differences between  evaluation versions of PDT-W and registered versions that you receive from us when you order.

Differences:  Evaluation ("lite") and Registered Versions

Evaluation (or "lite") versions of PDT-Windows may be used for 60 days from the date you install it, or for 100 uses, whichever comes first.  Please don't install PDT-Windows and then ignore it for 1-2 months -- your opportunity to evaluate it may expire!  Use it, try it, evaluate it, open our sample files -- but don't ignore it.

Evaluation versions let you edit the top portion of files.  But many options are turned off once you move below the top half of files.

Evaluation versions of PDT-Windows have all the features of registered versions of PDT-W except the options listed in PDT-W's Advanced Menu.  These advanced features, available in registered versions of PDT-Windows (which we send you when you order), include valuable options to:

Expand or Shrink Fields.

Add up fields or columns you mark.

Combine (concatenate) files in the smallest space possible.

Synchronize scrolling in 2+ files, which helps you compare files or sections.

Add sequence numbers (customer or part numbers, etc.) to records.

Add record-terminators (or other characters) to the end of each record.

Change the case of text in fields, blocks or the entire file.  PDT-W offers upper case, lower case and "proper name" options.

Scan fields or files to determine which ASCII characters exist.

Turn fixed-format ASCII files into dBase files.

Finally, in "Pro" versions of PDT-W you may open up to 10 files at once (versus 2 in evaluation versions).

Download an Evaluation Copy of PDT-Windows

Click on a link below to download one of two files containing a setup program for PDT-Windows.  Each file is about 3.5 mb in size.

We urge you to download either file into an empty, temporary subdirectory (folder) on your hard disk.  Then follow these instructions:

If you download the ".ZIP" version, un-zip the file into that temporary folder, read Readme.Txt, then run Setup.Exe.  Once PDT-Windows is installed, you may delete the temporary subdirectory and all the files in it.

If you download the ".EXE" version, after it's downloaded, just run that .Exe file to install PDT-Windows (see the note below about possibly renaming PDT-Win.Exe before you run it).  Once PDT-Windows is installed, you may delete the temporary subdirectory and all the files in it.

Note:  Click only one of the following links.  You do not need to download both files.

Click here to download PDT-Win.Zip (3.5mb). This file contains Readme.Txt and Setup.Exe.  Un-Zip PDT-Win.Zip, then open Readme.Txt in Notepad, WordPad, Word or any other text-file viewer for an introduction to PDT-Windows, as well as instructions on installing PDT-Windows.

Click here to download PDT-Win.Exe (3.5mb).   This is a standard Windows setup program.  Just run it to install PDT-Windows (but read the Note below first!).  Running this program will install both PDT-Windows and Readme.Txt.  We strongly urge you to read Readme.Txt in Notepad, WordPad, Word or any other text-file viewer after you've installed PDT-Windows.

Note:  If you use an "un-installer" program like CleanSweep, Un-Install, etc. and if you download PDT-Win.Exe, you might want to rename it to Setup.Exe before you run it.  Why?  Because programs like CleanSweep usually monitor programs called Setup.Exe or Install.Exe.  If you execute an .EXE file that's not called Setup or Install, these un-installer programs may not recognize it as a "setup" program, and may thus not monitor the installation.   PDT-Windows does include an un-installer, should you wish to remove PDT-W from your system.
